TRIUND – JEWEL ATOP MCLEODGANJ

triund

Triund

About 13 kms from Mcleodganj, at a height of approximately 3000 meter above sea level, lies Triund, offering the magnificent view to the Dhauladhar Mountain range on one side and the Kangra valley down below at Mcleodganj.  It is one of the easiest treks that offers a perfect weekend getaway even from the far-off and chaotic Delhi.

Reaching Triund

Triund is 17kms away from Dharamsala, which in turn is very well connected with all the major cities in India. The nearest major railway station to Dharamsala is Pathankot. Volvo buses and private cabs from Delhi to Dharamsala are also available. Dharamsala is connected via NH1 and the roads too are in a smooth condition.

The trekking trail to Triund is quite rocky but offers a majestic view to the picturesque landscape.

Midway the trail offers splendid view to the Dharamsala cricket stadium, most definitely one of the most aesthetically built, and, state of the art, stadiums in the world

Wishful thinking- A Home with windows opening to this view, where the clouds just casually float in to bedroom to greet the start to the day.

The least favorite day of the gym – Legs

Para gliders practicing for the world cup. (Our itinerary clashed with the para gliding world cup that was being held at Bir Billing.

Watching Over

Food and water is carried by the horses for the people camping at the top.

Gaddi shepherd tribe stay up the mountains till the weather god permits, and trickle down to the plains during winters.

The last few rays.

The sun bids adieu to the mountains and paints the sky in glorious reds and oranges

And Leonard Cohen echoes in the background “Hey, that’s no way to say goodbye”

The morning after

Echoes

Freezing

Snow white

Uprooted trees often act as landmark

Rolling Stones

Definitely

Until next time messenger
